Sunday's Annual Atlantic Antic
Sunday was not only among the most bee-a-u-tiful late summer days you could imagine weather-wise, but also the occasion of Brooklyn's annual Atlantic Antic, an outrageously festive borough affair (we're not talking tube socks and vege magets) that extends a good solid mile (I think I made that up) from the beginning of Atlantic Avenue at the BQE, all the way to the intersection with the Atlantic Terminal. The affair drew an estimated 100,000 people (Okay, I absolutely made that up)—including every imaginable borough res of all ages, ethnicity and all other welcome variables... With my visiting pal Leonard, loved connecting with my buddies Homer Fink and his main squeeze Tracy at the Brooklyn Heights Blog... and seeing the wondrous local merchants that are keeping our beloved city (admittedly) more vibrant than Manhattan's strip mall mentality. (On a personal note, was thrilled to see advocates for Bill Thompson, in his tough attempt to defeat NYC dictator Mike Bloomberg.)
