The U.S. Census Bureau announced at year-end that the residential population of the United States on April 1, 2010, was... 308,745,538. That represents an increase of 9.7% from 2000, when the pop was 281,421,906.And I helped!
The most populous state was California, the least populous Wyoming. The state that gained the most numerically since 2000 was Texas, while Nevada gained the most by percentage.
