At 11:11 on 11-11-11, the time and date will be a perfect same-numbered palindrome, reading the same backward as forward—an event that happens once every 100 years. So live it up, cool cats. Chances are, we'll all be dust on Nov. 11, 2111.
Among other things, 11-11-11 is a day of spiritual significance for those weirdos who believe the number 11 has mystical power. In fact, on Nov. 11 1911, an almost supernatural event saw temps drop by more than 60 degrees in a single day. It was known as the Great Blue Norther, a cold snap that created blizzards and tornadoes as well as record falls in temperatures. In Kansas City, for example, it was 76 degrees in the morning, and had dropped to 11 degrees by day's end.
Nov. 11 is also Armistice Day, which commemorates the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France. It marked the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I, which took effect at 11 a.m. on the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" in 1918. Wow, I got really bored writing that... Armistice, yeah, yeah... Drink up!
