It appears this Internet thing is catching on. One week ago tomorrow, a darling little post I wrote about Gwyneth Paltrow maligning the press at a charity event was posted on Gawker.com and its West Coast sister Defamer.com. (Click on any pic to expand.)The next thing I knew, every blog known in the Web land'o'plenty had picked up the item...Traffic on The Smoking Nun quickly accelerated from an average of 50 or so hits a day to more than 300......As sites linked to this here blog, en masse. For a day, I was a famous celebrity blogger—by default. The next day, of course, as celebrity "journalism" goes, there was another star doing something dumb... Paula Abdul quits "Idol"... and I was yesterday's news.
But there was one more delicious post, when MSN contacted Gwyn's publicist for a comment, and he as much called me a liar. No surprise. At least he had a sense of humor about the whole damn thing.
And now I'm back to being your average dumbass with a blog... read by 50 folks a day. Sigh, the fleeting rampages of fame. Oh, the pain.
