In Case You Were Wondering... Barbara Walters Tips 22%

One of our Southampton tipsters revealed to the Smoking Nun that prevalent Hamptons summer regular Barbara Walters came to hotspot restaurant Driver's Seat on Jobes Lane for lunch on Friday with a male companion. Ms. Walters ordered a turkey burger with a side salad and two ice coffees. Her meal was delivered with french fries and she politely pointed out the error, which was quickly corrected. Tipster refuses to acknowledge whether or not she ate the bun, damnit.

Mind you, our tipster didn't realize who he was waiting on, and was actually a bit daft in saying to her, "I guess you hear that you look like Barbara Walters?" She half-smiled and said, "Yes, I do," avoiding eye contact... Of course, when she dropped her American Express, with Barbara Walters s-p-el-l-e-d out, he got it.

The bill totaled around $38 and she tipped a generous 22%, we're told.

Overall impression: She was civil, but not overly amiable. Fair enough.
