Back in May, my (now sadly waning) temp gig with the U.S. Census Bureau carried me to Brooklyn's Grand Army Plaza. I wrote up a bunch of history and posted some pics then about the magnificent destination at the peak of Flatbush Avenue, but my latest visit brought the camera out again. Too glorious not to snap, snap each time I take it all in. It was originally unveiled in 1892, with sculptures added to the arch in 1901.
Looking directly up into the center of the arch. The main branch of the Brooklyn Library, opened in 1941.1894, pre-statutory... um, I mean statuary.
Wonderful photos! I want to go to there!
