New Music Seminar: Closing Night

This week's New Music Seminar in New York reached its climax last night with a festive closing party and live showcase at hot downtown club Santos House Party in Tribeca. Met up with friend and uber talented singer/songwriter Adam Shenk—whom I wrote liner notes for on his current CD "Suitcases"—which he recorded with Ayhan for Young Pal Records International. I also saw Adam perform at The Bitter End in May.
Indie artists Das Racist, Oxana, Six Volt, Creep and Hank & Cupcakes performed at the Santos NMS After Party, hosted by actor Josh Lucas. The latter act was particularly impressive: a married Israeli couple now based in Brooklyn, with "Hank" on bass and "Cupcakes" on drums—standing—and vocals. Good eatin'!
