Good Monday! It was this week in 1981 when the third hit from Scottish singer Sheena Easton debuted on the Billboard Hot 100—just as sophomore U.S. hit "Modern Girl" was peaking at No. 18. "For Your Eyes Only," the theme to the James Bond film, was originally offered to Blondie, but they wanted to record their own version of the song. Nope, said film producers, and came after the hot young singer who'd just scored a global No. 1 with "Morning Train."
Sheena's is the only James Bond theme to ever feature the artist in the opening credits, and eventually peaked at No. 4 on the U.S. singles chart, ultimately becoming her third biggest hit, next to "MT" and "The Lover in Me" in 1989.
