Art Imitates Life: Channing Tatum Plays Stripper In New Flick

Hottie actor Channing Tatum, who has no shame over supporting himself at 19 as a g-string stripper, has signed on to star in the movie Magic Mike.

He plays the lap-dancing title character, who schools a protege on how to hustle on- and offstage. No word on who his sexy sidekick will be, but I can almost smell the homoeroticism from here.

The project will be directed by Oscar-winning Steven Soderbergh (Erin Brockovich, Oceans Eleven, etc., Sex, Lies and Videotape) who was approached by Tatum with the idea. "When Channing talked to me about this, I thought it was one of the best ideas I'd ever heard for a movie. It's sexy, funny and shocking," he says. "We're using Saturday Night Fever as our model, so hopefully we're on the right track."

Tatum added, "This was a wild and pivotal time in my life and I couldn't be more thrilled to go down the rabbit hole with Steven." Tatum is now shooting 21 Jump Street and will next be seen in The Vow with Rachel McAdams, and Ten Year
