My pal Aliceee introduced me to TNT's cop drama Rizzoli & Isles, which stars uber-macho Angie Harmon (ease up, would you, lady?) as Detective Jane Rizzoli, and a much more pleasant Sasha Alexander as medical examiner Maura Isles. In its most recent episode, fave Eddie Cibrian guests as "a new guy who opens up a different side of Maura." For one episode. Sigh.
God bless Cibrian. In addition to his confounding marriage to horse face LeAnn Rimes, this guy just can't catch a blessed break. His promising 2011 fall series on NBC, The Playboy Club, was canceled after only three episodes, as was riveting 2005-2006 series Invasion. Meanwhile, he continues to make guest-starring appearances on the likes of Ugly Betty, CSI: Miami and Chase. His longest run was as a supporting character on Third Watch way back at the turn of the millennium.
Cibrian, now 39, should be an A-list actor. I don't understand why he hasn't made the leap to feature films, and/or can't seem to gain traction as the lead in a successful TV series. And yet... Nicki Minaj is a millionaire. Oh, what a world. *
