UPDATE: NY Marriage Equality Among Few Remaining Senate Issues

With testy resolution of New York rent regulations, property tax caps and state tuition increases out of the way, there are precious few issues remaining for the Republican-led state Senate to debate other than the marriage equality bill... that is, aside from the all-important issue of deciding whether "sweet corn" should be deemed the state vegetable. Mercy, that could go on for hours.

Current news reports allude to ongoing discussions Wednesday, though I must admit, my hopes are waning. We're down to precious hours at this point. If a vote does not take place today, these elected slackers are quite likely going to pack their bags for the summer and table the issue for the long term. Come on, Gov. Cuomo, stand your ground!

  1. I've avoided being pessimistic, but I've been feeling that this was going to get dragged out, everyone was going to get what they want, and then everyone was going to go home without passing or even voting on this. Tax caps - done. Rent control - done. Watch them head home without doing this.
