As the very essence of the 1970's American mustachioed hunk, Sam Elliott first ignited my passion in the 1976 flick Lifeguard, in which he plays a 30-year-old facing a crisis: Is it time to get a "real job" or continue to do what he loves? Fortunately, Sammy makes the right decision: Keep wearing those form-fitting red trunks and showing off that iconic hairy chest and horseshoe mustache.
The actor , who turns 67 today, saw his star rise in 1985's Mask, followed by starring roles in Road House, Tombstone, The Big Lebowski and many others. He has been married to actress Katharine Ross since 1984, whom he met filming 1978's horror flick The Legacy—which has a very rewarding shower scene, ahem.
