Emre Yilmaz Premieres Music Video For Single 'Kaderin Yerine'

Our good pal Emre is making good with his burgeoning Turkish-language career. A playful music video has been released for his single "Kaderin Yerine," which we announced here a month ago. Emre also just performed with Turkey's biggest superstar, Sezen Aksu. Great things happening for a deserving and super-talented artist.

Emre Revs Up For First Turkish Single Release 'Kaderin Yerine'

Our good buddy Emre has been traveling between the U.S. and Istanbul to work on his first Turkish single. And now the moment has arrived: "Kaderin Yerine," which roughly translates to "I owe all my success to Chuck," is available here for only 1,96 TL (I have no idea what that is).

In fact, I did collaborate with Ayhan and Emre on the latter's first English single "Only Yesterday," which, um, you can purchase here. Yeah, man.

Emre Serenades 2C Studios With Classical Guitar

Emre was back at 2C Studios Friday to record three hours of guitar parts for new compositions that Ayhan is writing for his main muse Karine Hannah. This is going to be good, cool cats!

Emre Returns To The States... & The Studio

It's been six months since our beloved Emre headed back to his native Turkey to complete requisite military service—a requirement of the nation. No matter where in the world you live or how old you become, you've got to put in your time.

During the visit, Emre made inroads with his recording career and is now actively working on his long-awaited first full-length album, sung in Turkish. At last...

Yesterday, he reunited with Ayhan and intern Collin for a recording session here in Brooklyn at 2C Studios.

Erkin Koray: Turkey's Jimi Hendrix

In the late 1950s, Erkin Koray was renowned as the first Turkish musician to introduce rock music in the nation, embracing electric guitar in an era where traditional Middle Eastern instrumentation still mandated popular music. A decade later, he commandeered psychedelic prog rock—in addition to becoming controversial just because he had long hippie hair. Coolio!
In 1971, in Cannes, he chummed around with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, later being compared in Turkey for as being as much an influential innovator in rock music, also compared to Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page.

Last week, 69-year-old Koray was in the States, in search of signing with an indie American label to propel his legacy West, and held meetings at the Jersey City home of Ayhan's longtime friends Serap and Kamu. Emre Cooks In Billboard Turkey

Following my March spotlight review in Billboard, the Turkish version of the mag, which is sold on the stands as a consumer publication, featured Emre's single "Only Yesterday"—produced by Ayhan Sahin, in the May issue.

Translation: "Emre, who lives in (New York) and has the talent to work with many famous artists, is putting final touches on his first English-language album. The single from his album, “Only Yesterday,” is already well-known in the U.S. Billboard (U.S.) recently gave the single a very positive review. Emre's album, produced by Ayhan Sahin, is going to be released in Turkey in the near future. But it looks like this charming, sexy man might just conquer the United States before his music reaches Turkey."

Meanwhile, Emre and Ayhan appeared last week on the Turkish national news in a nicely detailed piece about their collaboration. Okay, cool cats, this is kind of major (read: Chuckle wants Ayhan to purchase a South Beach condo before my bones turn brittle). See it here.And demonstrating his long history in the spotlight, Emre also was brave enough to share with us his career as a youngster, appearing in commercials—this one for, um, toilet tissue. He was certainly a cutie—look at those apple cheeks—merely hinting at the handsome grown-up that Emre has become. All good, as long as he and Ayhan can conjure a few No. 1 hits so that I might become a house-husband for the next 40 years. Oh, wait, this isn't about me, is it?
