People Mag Announces 2013 Annual 'Sexiest Man Alive'... Huh?!

And the Sexiest Man Alive for 2013, according to People mag is... Adam Levine? Say what? Huh? Really? Um... ha ha ha, NO!

Among its other oddball picks: Jimmy Fallon, Idris Elba, "I never ever smile" Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams.Who the hell judged this thing? A posse of hungry housewives who watch TV all day? One things's for sure: It wasn't a gay man in da know.

Meanwhile, the man who should have won—Chris Pine—is at least among the dozen featured online (the No. 3 Smoking Nun runner-up for Sexiest Man Alive in 2010)... alongside Justin Theroux, Luke Bryan, Bruno Mars and David Beckham.

People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive 2012: Channing Tatum

Yup, I can sure live with that... People magazine has named its 2012 Sexiest Man Alive as Channing Tatum, who electrified the screen this year with Magic Mike... not to mention bringing to the big screen a hot & hunky cast that included Joe Manganiello, Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer, Alex Pettyfer and Alex Rodriguez.

Here's what People writes about Tatum in advance of the Sexiest Man issue that comes out Friday, November 16... He may have bared (almost) all of that incredibly chiseled body in this year's Magic Mike but 2012's Sexiest Man Alive Channing Tatum was still modest when he heard the news: "My first thought was, 'Y'all are messing with me,'" says Tatum, who married actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum in 2009. "I told Jenna after we'd been in the bathtub washing our dogs because they'd gotten skunked."

Her Alabama-bred heartthrob of a husband is also a sculptor who quotes Edgar Allan Poe, loves to give her massages and can't wait to start their family. "I'm ready; I think she's ready," Tatum, 32, says.

"The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we'll see where we go after that. It’s really easy for us guys to say, 'I want like 15 kids. Jenna will be like, 'Well you better get another wife!'"

Currently training to play an Olympic athlete in next year's Foxcatcher, Tatum is all heart and muscle at 195 pounds. "I like to be lean. If I get too bulky I can't move well and I like to move," he says. "When I'm not training, I get really round and soft." Which is just fine by his wife. "People know him to be fun and sexy, but they don't know how emotionally deep and spiritually open he is," says Dewan-Tatum, 31. "He is such an open-hearted person; what you see is what you get."

Morning Joe: Manganiello Covers Aussie 'Men's Health' Australia

Joe Manganiello, who dons his biceps on the November 2012 cover of Oz's Men's Health—another in a series of sexy mag fronts over the past year—has given us one more reason to fall in love with The Smoking Nun's 2011 Sexiest Man Alive.

Earlier this month, he presented his pal, Magic Mike co-star Matt Bomer, with an “Inspiration Award” at the 8th Annual Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network’s (GLSEN) Awards. There, he also shared his views on civil rights for all: "You are the example that the rest of our country needs to wake up and see in terms of equality and putting an end to the bullying epidemic and making sure that every family is respected in our schools and our society.” Sweet!

Other news: Channing Tatum says he may want to direct the supposedly coming sequel to Magic Mike: "It’s too good of a movie, and the characters are so crazy, that we want to go for it. We feel like we did the little indie version last time, and for the next one, we want to up the stakes, maybe go even farther." Previous director Steven Soderbergh says he has retired for good, this time, and is not up for Magic Mike 2. Tatum adds it may be a while before MM2 materializes: “We’re not going to direct our first movie as a sequel to a Steven Soderbergh movie. That’s not smart. I want to start with something very small, make a lot of mistakes, make them real early, then jump in on Magic Mike 2.” *

Former pro rugby player Thom Evans continues to gain steam (lots of steam) as 2012's leading candidate for the Sexiest Man Alive in 2012. He graces the cover of the November 2012 U.K. Men's Health, and while there aren't a lot of new picolas to feast upon, we couldn't be happier to load up on any new views of the 27-year-old hottie's impeccable abs, chiseled physique, beautiful face... and all other body parts.

In the MH interview, Evans shares that to maintain his perfect form, "stair jumps are hands-down the best thing you can do. Each bound naturally makes you tense almost every muscle you’ve got: your lower body to force you upwards and your upper body to propel you forwards." Okay, I think a drop of drool just oozed from my mouth. *

On August 23, the William Levy Ultimate Fans blog reached a milestone of 50,000 unique visits, five months after its official launch on March 26, 2012. I'm delighted to report that just one month later, The Smoking Nun's sister sub-blog has climbed to 60,000 hits! That's just plain hot!

If you hadn't noticed, Levy has long been The Smoking Nun's fave grade-A beef man of choice, and as we attempt to evolve past so many posts about hot guys, blah blah, hot men, blah blah, underwear, blah blah and Speedos, what other choice was there to satiate our love for Mr. Levy than to offer him his own dedicated online space, especially as he reached mainstream fame last Spring via his star-making turn on ABC's Dancing With The Stars?

Joe Manganiello Deemed 'Sexiest Man' For 'People's' Emmy Poll

Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara were voted the “Sexiest Man and Woman” on People magazine's 2012 Emmys poll. Meanwhile, Joe covers two mags: the Spring/Summer (huh?) 2012 issue of Australia's Remix mag; and Summer Girl. We have the pics!

Manganiello recently grew a full-on beard for his role as werewolf Alcide Herveaux in the upcoming sixth season HBO's True Blood, which begins filming in January. He also trained for five months to add muscle for the role, following his beefy role in Magic Mike.

There's still talk of a follow-up flick after the enormous success of Mike. Manganiello told Hollywood.com earlier this year, "We're actually talking about the possibility of doing a prequel... because if you want to do the sequel, then you lose Mike [Channing Tatum]. Otherwise, what's Mike going to do? So you would do the prequel, and how they got there."

Tatum also is up for the idea: "Yes, yes and yes!" he tweeted in a Glamour interview over the summer about the possibility of a second Magic Mike installment. "We're working on the concept now. We want to flip the script and make it bigger." And as we all know, bigger is better when it comes to Joe.*

People En Espanol Does Due Diligence: William Levy Is 2012's Sexiest!

As if we didn't already know, People En Espanol has again deemed William Levy its Sexiest Man Alive for 2012—for the second year in a row! And once again, he graces the cover of this week's mag! The news was revealed at the People in Spanish Festival in San Antonio, where our fave Cuban actor talked about his ongoing on & off relationship with actress Elizabeth Gutierrez and confirmed that, for now, no wedding is in the cards.

And what makes a partner sexy? Levy reveals that being been raised by his mom, aunt and grandma was the best training to figure out what women want.  "I grew up seeing what a woman likes, dislikes, what my mother wanted in a man and could not find," 32-year Will says. "It was very important to know how to please a woman, which worked in my favor."
