Gawker's Print Holocaust
This sad but brilliant montage shows all of the print mags that have ceased publication over the past year. From Gawker.com/Anna Edwards. And yes, my late employer R&R is there, toward the lower left. (Click for larger view.)

Sunday's Annual Atlantic Antic
Sunday was not only among the most bee-a-u-tiful late summer days you could imagine weather-wise, but also the occasion of Brooklyn's annual Atlantic Antic, an outrageously festive borough affair (we're not talking tube socks and vege magets) that extends a good solid mile (I think I made that up) from the beginning of Atlantic Avenue at the BQE, all the way to the intersection with the Atlantic Terminal. The affair drew an estimated 100,000 people (Okay, I absolutely made that up)—including every imaginable borough res of all ages, ethnicity and all other welcome variables... With my visiting pal Leonard, loved connecting with my buddies Homer Fink and his main squeeze Tracy at the Brooklyn Heights Blog... and seeing the wondrous local merchants that are keeping our beloved city (admittedly) more vibrant than Manhattan's strip mall mentality. (On a personal note, was thrilled to see advocates for Bill Thompson, in his tough attempt to defeat NYC dictator Mike Bloomberg.)

Jobless Rate = 9.8% In September
You know, I'm not even going to repeat the highlights. It's just too damn depressing... and I'm so weary of writing about this anyway. Read it and weep. Oh, this is me: "The number of people out of work for six months or longer jumped to a record 5.4 million, and they now make up almost 36% of the unemployed.
Jill Goia: Talent Overload
Ayhan has so much talent passing through his 2C Studio on a daily basis. Today, one of the best was in the house, alongside his primary collaborator Dennis DelGuadio: Jill Goia, one of the finalists from reality TV's "Rockstar: Supernova." Following their previous hitworthy recording of "Bitch Slap," I listened as she recorded a new composition in a single damn take. Not only a superb talent, but what a sweetheart... and obviously a beauty.
Wednesday Three-Pack
Wednesday evening packed a trio triptych of events, beginning with Liz D. and me, back in the city, first attending a reception honoring the Giants of Broadcasting at Redeye Grill at 56th and Seventh, where we reunited with Dr. Judy Kuriansky, whom I reunited with after more than a decade in the Hamptons last month at Sir Ivan's outlandish outing.
Onward to the Barnes & Noble in Lincoln Square to see my beloved Lina Koutrakos re-release her CD "The Low Country," complete with a performance—and a packed room. I wrote the liner notes for the disc and apparently she said some nice shit about me... but we were 15 minutes late, so I'll just imagine how lofty I must have come across. You betcha. Lina is performing at Joe's Pub Oct. 11. Can't wait for that.
Then it was homeward bound, where Donna D. came over to cook dinner for Ayhan and me, for a double celebration: my birthday, yeah, yeah, old news—and Ayhan's Green Card! Big night, indeed. And tasty, too.
