SIXTY-SECOND REVIEW: Saw "Burlesque" tonight and was quite pleased and surprised by the natural acting gifts of Christina Aguilera. Fortunately, writer & director Steven Antin held back her typically irritating riffing, allowing A's beautiful voice to raise the rafters. Cher was alarming: She looks like a fish. What in god's name is she thinking with the Botox? And love interest Cam Gigandet and almost love interest Eric Dane are worthy eye candy... For the most part the music is saucy and delicious; Cher's "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" is breathtaking... Despite almost universally hateful reviews, an absolute crowd-pleaser. Predictable but good fun.
