Tonight's memorable event: a charity fundraiser at Sotheby's at 72nd and York, for Haiti, featuring a silent auction and performance by Patti Smith—who wrote the current bestselling memoir "Just Kids," about her late-'60's days living in New York's Chelsea Hotel with her boyfriend and soon-to-be renowned photog Robert Mapplethorpe.
