When The Smoking Nun launched in June 2008, it was an obvious take-off of
The Smoking Gun, the rancorous conservative blog founded as a venue for celebrity mug shots and now owned by corporate giant Court TV.
My intent with the Nun was to be more playful and personal, albeit with a point of view. With nearly 207,500 hits over the past two years, I'd like to think there's some value in the effort.
But I must protest Playboy's new
The Smoking Jacket, a transparent attempt to confuse my brilliant readers into accidentally navigating to Hugh Hefner's site. The founder claims the name is based on his iconic wardrobe, but I see right through that. Don't be fooled, cool cats! The Smoking Nun is the
only destination you need. Half-naked ladies? You'll
never see such inelegant images here. I stand proud at never exploiting women's bodies. Men, on the other hand...
