First Day Of Summer: 92 Degrees In NYC @ 7 p.m.!

That heatwave that was forecast for New York City appears to have been no joke. The weather forecasters actually got something right. On this first day of Summer 2012, temps hit 94+ degrees.

Mind you, in the dark tomb that is my apartment office, I have yet to install my window air conditioner, although—thank god—I at last had a ceiling fan put in two weeks ago (that's been sitting boxed in storage for two years). Truly, I never came close to breaking a sweat—that is, until I took the doggies out for a walk around 7 p.m. this evening.

Wow! Within 10 minutes, it felt like my body was raining from the inside out... A heatwave, indeed. And Thursday is supposed to hit 97 degrees. All I can say is what a blessing that the New Music Seminar closed on Tuesday, when it was a beautiful 75 degrees. Can you imagine what the already dank Webster Hall would smell like packed with 1,000 soaking wet sweaty bods? Yikes. *
