A Sunday Stroll Down The Avenue | Love Those Local Businesses

On Sunday, I escaped Brooklyn after being sequestered in my home borough (working & writing) for six days, and made my way into Manhattan to help visiting D.C. pals Alex & Caroline break down a theater set in the East Village. That may be some sort of record for most time I haven't stepped foot in the big city.

With camera in hand just before dusk, I took a quick jaunt down First Avenue, admiring the remaining presence of local businesses, ever a fading phenomenon in NYC Mayor Nanny Bloomberg's would-be elitist city. Lovely, I say. Let's hope they stay put through the remainder of the billionaire's endless term (which finally comes to a close in 2012). *
