Shania Twain Hops The Celine Bandwagon With 2-Year Vegas Residency

Trailing the diva coattails of Celine Dion, long-absent pop/country singer Shania Twain has committed to a two-year residency in Las Vegas—filling in when Celine breaks during her current three-year-plus run at the 4,3000-seat Caesars Palace Colosseum Arena.

The 45-year-old Twain announced she will reappear on the Vegas strip after a seven-year career hiatus, for 60 shows a year: "I will let my imagination run wild. I'm going to go nuts creatively." "Shania: Still The One" opens Dec. 1, 2012.

Twain has been peaking through the public eye following her 2008 divorce from Robert John “Mutt” Lange—the producer that propelled her to fame. Last month, reality series “Why Not? With Shania Twain,” premiered on the Oprah Winfrey Network. She also released an autobiography, “From This Moment On,” which chronicles the demise of her 14-year marriage after Lange had an affair with Twain’s best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud.

Apparently, her pain was only mildly excruciating, since, in January, she married Swiss business executive Frederic Thiebaud, the ex-husband of the woman with whom her husband had an affair. How very Liz Taylor.

Love Shania's music, especially No. 1 ballad "From This Moment On." I just wish she hadn't found it necessary to air her dirty laundry publicly via that book, in the name of commerce. We've all got some healing to do to find the love again in Shania... Tickets go on sale June 19, starting at $80: Time will tell.
