Trailer For 'Magic Mike' Gets It ALL Wrong... I Smell A Disaster

Wow. I mean... wow. With a cast that includes Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Joe Mangianello, Matt Bomer and Matthew McConaughey, you would think that the introduction to the majorly hyped $20 million Magic Mike would include a scene or two that comprises what this film's appeal is: Hot guys bumping and grinding. After all, does Warner Bros. really think the flick's demographic is anyone other than gay guys?

Instead, this cheesy, tedious introductory trailer is all about a dumb romance between Channing Tatum and a handsome woman played by Cody Horn... and, um, Mike's desire to design coffee tables!! Oh, no, will she be able to see him for who he really is... or will she always think of him as just a stripper? Well, who gives a shit?

We never even see Joe Mangianello or Matt Bomer in the preview... and McConaughey gets all of one eensy scene. I tell you, Warners is marketing this to be a gigantic flop, if the studio believes a dramatic love story is why people will dole out dollars to see Magic Mike. I sniff shades of Demi Moore's disastrous Striptease. Uh, oh. The film opens June 29. *
