Sweet spot: 89 Montague Street has had a helluva time keeping tenants. A couple years ago, it housed an upscale clothing boutique, then became temp quarters for City Council candidate Doug Biviano... and sat empty for close to a year. Last month, the space came to life as the home of Heights Convenience, a tidy bodega with an amicable staff. Crossing fingers they excel in a nabe where it's damn tough to be local—while this is precisely what Brooklyn Heights needs to keep itself from further becoming every-town's strip mall.
