New York City: Turn Of The Century Images

Slow news day... so after visiting New York City in 1974 earlier in the week, let's explore Manhattan at the beginning of the 1900s, shall we? Construction of the Brooklyn Bridge......and after its completion, walking across the Brooklyn Bridge "promenade," with dozens of billboards on the Manhattan side.Times Square, 1905. I actually thought the sign said "Hooters."Subway tunnel excavation, 1904.Tenement house, 1904, with views inside.Construction of the Flatiron Building.Grand Central station, during construction and following completion.Need a city getaway?
