Less than a decade ago, handsome Ryan Reynolds—who celebrated his 35th birthday Sunday, Oct. 23—was on his way to being a kinetic king of comedy in the lead of 2002's sassy Lampoon’s Van Wilder.
But in recent years, he not only got boffo buff, but proved his acting chops in such roles as smash romantic comedy The Proposal with Sandra Bullock, the harrowing Buried, and then as a true-blue action hero, in X-Men Orgins: Wolverine, Blade: Trinity and this year, as the lead in hit flick Green Lantern.
His latest release is drama Fireflies in the Garden with Julia Roberts and Willem Dafoe, which was filmed three years ago and released Oct. 14, thanks to his box-office moxie. Reynold is currently filming action thriller Safe House with Denzel Washington, scheduled for release in February 2012; and R.I.P.D., an action-comedy crime film based on the comic book Rest In Peace Department, due in June 2013.
Reynolds appeared in People mag's Sexiest Man Alive lists in 2008 and 2009 and garnered the cover honor in 2010. In April 2011, he was ranked No. 15 on People's Most Beautiful 2011 list.
