NBC Green Lights Full Season Of Awful 'Up All Night' & Horrid 'Whitney'

Well, at least they're not reality shows... NBC has inexplicably given a full-season commitment to two stinker frosh shows: Up All Night starring Christina Applegate and Will Arnett as boring new parents trying desperately to retain a modicum of cool after having a drooling, pooping baby... and the cliched comedy Whitney, starring comedienne Whitney Cummings, whose pilot was about as funny as a drooling, pooping baby.

Not surprisingly, Fox's New Girl with the adorable Zooey Deschanel has also been green-lighted.

Meanwhile, NBC has canceled The Playboy Club after three episodes, making it the first casualty of the 2011 network season. The show never stood a chance after so much pressure from parents groups and feminist Nazis. The former complained it was oh so racy (it wasn't), while the fem Nazis bitched that sexy women are only allowed on TV when they make men look stupid. I rather liked the show. Unlike the highly touted fellow '60s freshman show Pan Am, at least Playboy was about something.

  1. In an earlier post, I remember you wrote how you feared The Playboy Club would be quickly canceled...the bright side: you were right! Bad week for Sibrian and his wife LeAnn, whose latest album "Give" started out with less than 10,000 copies in its first week...bad times!
