Perfect Summer Sunday: Kip's Bay, NYC

A lovely Summer Sunday with Leonard in his (new) neighborhood of Kip's Bay, east of Midtown NYC, including brunch at local hang Benjamin, followed by shopping at the Greenmarket just beside Leo's ginormous condo building, the Kips Bay Towers, designed in 1961 by renowned architect I.M. Pei, comprising two twin concrete structures, each with 1,600 apartments, with a beautiful, serene 4-acre courtyard between. Can you imagine how many folks reside in those two buildings? That's lil' Leo beside the yellow arrow; even standing across the street, I couldn't begin to get the entire building in the picola. *Leo shops for fresh red tomaters......while I shop for hot tamales. Ruff!
Homemade ginger dressing for Leo...
A Sunday destination for urban locals. Greenmarkets are all over the city, and a wondrous amenity. And no, Bloomberg had nothing to do with this initiative... He's way too busy outlawing food.
Look at the variety... tomatoes, bananas, watermelon, green beans, blueberries, strawberries, peaches, potatoes, corn, blackberries, eggs, honey, breads and even pickles & olives.
Back at Leo's place, I partake in a moment of solace... which closely resembles practice for death...
Leo's pad... repainted, scrubbed, decorated and absolutely lovely...
Onward to the West Village for "Sunday Tea" at timeless joint Julius, with Leo and Ayhan.
And these are the days of our lives... thankfully.
