Breakfast With Brandi

Longtime pal Brandi, against all odds, managed to find transportation to NYC Monday for a one-night-only trip to see "West Side Story" on Broadway, with her mamer, friend Tiffany and T's daughter Bella. We met for breakfast at Junior's in Times Square bright and early this morning to break bread. Fabulamous time.

Digging It

The great dig-out begins following New York's 20.2-inch blizzard Sunday. The sun is out, allowing sidewalks to reappear. The side streets... another story.Brooklyn Heights this morning. A beaming, bright a.m.Times Square, 8:30 a.m.Chelsea...And back to the barely grazed Brooklyn Heights, where street cleaning seems to have gotten lost in New York's snow removal agenda.Recovery will come. Smiles, everybody!

No Fare!

Bless this (dumbass) cabbie's heart. What was he thinking, trying to navigate an unscraped street corner in Brooklyn Heights (corner of Montague Terrace & Remsen Street)? Who knows exactly when this happened: His taxi was abandoned late this afternoon. Of course, everybody that walked by—me included—had to have a picture. Dunno know why it's so photogenic... but just 'tis.Sunset in BK.Abby & Spencer brave the cold & ice for one of their first walks in the northeast snow (they're from Missouri, you know). Fortunately, we found a few scraped passages.

R.I.P. Teena Marie

How sad... only 54. How does one die of "natural causes" at 54, huh? She lives on through her many R&B, pop and dance hits.

Happy Birthday Karla Bonoff

While Karla Bonoff scored only one top 20 hit in America—1982's "Personally" (my No. 23 song for the year)—she is plenty acclaimed as a songwriter who penned multiple hits for Linda Ronstadt ("Someone To Lay Down Beside Me"), whose voice is strikingly similar.

Bonoff, who turns 59 today, released five albums; among her many hits in my songbook are "Please Be the One," "Standing Right Next To Me," "All Walk Alone," "All My Life," "Tell Me Why," "Goodbye My Friend" and "What Am I Supposed To Believe" with Christopher Cross.

I first saw her live at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Va., in the early 1990s; then again at B.B. King in New York in April 2009.

Bury Me Deep

They're saying this is the sixth-biggest blizzard in New York history, with 20 inches on the ground. Not as amusing as I figured: It's all about the grisly winds... BLIZZARD! No Fooling This Time!

Every winter New York gets the same melodramatic warning: A blizzard is coming! Then... 2 inches of powder. Not this time, cool cats. At least 20 inches are forecast, along with 50 mph winds. This is when it's the most fun to be a New Yorker: Enjoy, stay warm and if you gotta go out, there's our friend the subway.

Of course, walking the dogs in a blizzard... I haven't quite figured that one out yet.

Unofficial Christmas Portrait 2010

Well, we tried... It's the moment that counts, yeah?
