Chelsea Art Opening: Mad For Max's

Max's Kansas City is among New York's legendary 1970's nightspots... which plays a major role in the memoir I wrote with Liz Derringer last summer... as does the girl pictured at the bottom of the invite, Liz's best friend Andi Feldman. She ultimately jumped out of a Fifth Avenue window at the age of 22.

Tonight at the Steven Kasher Gallery in Chelsea, an opening celebrated Max's heritage—and it was utter madness, with a line a block long to get in and 200 people milling about in front. Liz and I didn't even attempt to go inside—it looked miserable. Amazing to see such ongoing passion for the salad days of 70s' NYC.
