After just railing on the poor deprived 20-somethings for accepting food stamps comes the monthly federal jobs statistics report... and it's a real classic...In August 2011, employers added an adjusted overall total of ZERO jobs in the U.S. Add to that a revision of June and July data: which now shows a loss of 58,000 jobs. Total payrolls were unchanged in August, the first time since 1945 that the government has reported a net job change of zero. In a word, the economy is fucked! Wholly, consistently, persistently royally fucked.
The unemployment rate, meanwhile, remained locked at 9.1%. The number of those out of a job for six months or more remained above 6.0 million in August and accounts for 42.9% of the unemployed. A total of 2.04 million were out of work for 99 weeks or longer. This is the weakest jobs report since September 2010.
I can't wait to see how the national media spins this one... not to mention President Obama, who will address a joint session of Congress next week to
"introduce a plan for creating jobs..." as if we haven't been hearing the same bunch of nothing for the past two years.Honestly, while the G.O.P prospects for 2012 are more frightening than a bloody axe, I have no faith that Obama has a clue about how to turn things around. At this point, he talks like... a
politician. Words, words, words, with so much consistent caving to Republicans that he remains paralyzed. Grow some balls, Mr. Prez, and behave like a Democrat, how about it? He could learn a lot from New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, instead of behaving like former Gov. David Paterson.Pardon me, time for my Ramen noodles.
