Plain & simple: Not only has Mikie Bloomberg made NYC a locale that only the elite can afford to enjoy, he is now a crook.
The Brooklyn Heights Courier reports that a federal judge has upheld the right of Mayor Bloomberg and the City Council to overturn two public referendums in which residents voted to limit city elected officials to two four-year terms. Last November, the Council passed and Bloomberg signed a law extending term limits to a third four-year term. Bloomberg reasoned he should have the opportunity to stay at the city helm due to the financial crisis. The move clears the way for Bloomberg and most City Council members to run for a third term.
Attorney for the plaintiffs Letitia James concurred, "It’s a sad day for democracy. No one is above the law, including billionaires, and we should not amend or tailor the city charter to meet the needs of any one individual."
