"Smiles, Everyone!"... Ricardo Montalban R.I.P.
Any child of the 1970s spent every Saturday night watching "The Love Boat" and "Fantasy Island." And of course, any gay teen of the 1980s was as addicted to "Dynasty," which led to the pretty dreadful spin-off "The Colbys," but if you were gay enough, like me, it was worth watching for dreamy Maxwell Caulfield and tough but lovable meemaw Barbara Stanwyck. Of course the common link here is Ricardo Montalban, who has died at 88. He was ever-debonair on "Fantasy Island," but just as suave as Zach Powers on "The Colbys." Fine actor, R.I.P.

Oh I loved that show. I also loved the undertone of "You're ALL going to HELL!"
ReplyDeleteDos Equis should have hired Ricardo Montalban to do a few ads for them as their "most interesting man in the world" (he has a Spanish accent too, which fits perfectly)
